Social media monitoring for the delhi metro

The Delhi Metro has been a blessing in disguise for the 16.75 million people residing in the vivid areas of the national capital. The Metro line links some of the neglected areas to the important ones and thus it has made lives of people very easy and worthwhile. Being the most economical mode of transportation in the capital, lakhs and lakhs of people prefer using it over any other mode. The Rail Corporation has noted a total ridership of 25.3 lakh in a single day this year which speaks volumes for itself. The authorities have decided on cutting down the fare rates of the same at the non peak hours of travel. This will be a big step taken and would require a lot of research and work. The people responsible need to thoroughly go through the major travelling times and the all around factors before taking it further.

Social Media has laid its hands in nearly every field possible, it has proved that it can help in each and every situation and so is the case with this one. Social media Monitoring is a concept that can be utilised by the DMRC to actually look out for the non peak hours of the day. It will help in keeping a track of any mega or major events taking place in the recent times which might increase the rate of travellers in the non-peak hours as well.

Especially in the season of college fests in the Delhi University and other private colleges in the capital region the number of people doing up and down increases manifold even at the non peak hours of travel. New Delhi is defined as the symbol of varied cultural heritage of our country owing to which many festivals, exhibitions are organised every now and then which have a massive footfall.  Social Media Monitoring will help the Metro authorities to look out for the same before planning out the reduced fare rates and the timings for the same. Apart from these certain lines are busy all throughout the day and the ridership decreases barely.

Being a symbol of national pride the Delhi Metro will not want to make any errors and would like to continue adding more revenue into the national treasures. To do this one needs to be very sure of the range of time that they will demarcate for the reduced rates.  Social Media Monitoring will enable a comparative analysis over a long time and would help the people concerned to take worthwhile decisions.
